Welcome
to
Blast
from the Past: A Nostalgic Look
Back
at Kid's TV from the 90's.
After
a lot of hard work and dedication, I have decided to
finally launch the website. As one can see, not
all of the sections are currently up and running;
however, the majority of them should be finished within
the next few weeks. Most of the sections on
specific shows do have an episode guide and an index
page and the character guides and credits should be
coming soon as well. The shows are organized in
two different formats - alphabetically and by network.
This makes it easier to identify a forgotten show if it
is known what network it aired on. Unfortunately,
the network listing is not up at the moment, but it will
be once more shows are added to the archive. On
the other hand, the 'About
the Site' page is up and running along with all its
sections. Feel free to check it out as it gives a
lot of information about what I intend to do with this
website and also my reasons for creating it. Also,
I highly recommend that one view this website with a
1024 x 768 screen resolution. If not, then the
site will look way too large.
Many
people are excited about this website not for the
information it presents, but for the video files that
they can download. As promised, one will be able
to download opening and closing clips, show commercials
and promos, and finally, promos from different networks.
However, the videos are not loaded onto any server at
the current moment. I am anticipating an
incredibly huge amount of bandwidth needed in order to
host the files and consequently, I am searching for the
best place to make these available to everyone without
putting severe stress on any one server. Please be
patient while I fix this problem. If anyone has
any suggestions, Please e-mail me.
Additionally,
before I even make the videos available, I want to make
one point clear: almost all of the commercials and some
openings and closings will be found exclusively on this
website. Many are extremely rare clips and were
only shown once or twice on TV over a decade ago. Consequently,
due to the rarity of these clips, I want to ensure that
every video file I make is available for download
exclusively on this website. If I discover that
other websites are offering any type of video file from
this website for download, I will discontinue to offer.
The website would then only archive commercials with
information and pictures. Please do not violate
this rule so others can enjoy these great memories.
On the other hand, I have no problem with people
sharing my files with each other, as long as the
exchange is on a personal basis and not on a larger
scale such as hosting them on a website.
Finally,
no grand opening can be complete without a dedication.
I would like to dedicate Blast from the Past to
Elizabeth Ouellette, my Nana. Unfortunately, she
died in 1997 after a long illness. There is no
question that she is the main inspiration for making
this website. She was dedicated to feeding the
growing imaginations of the children around her, whether
it be by sitting down and watching shows, rushing home
to make sure a new episode of a certain series was not
missed, or even traveling to twenty stores within a
tri-county area to find that one elusive action figure
in a toy line series. Her memory and influence
will undoubtedly live on as this website expands and
tries to piece together the past. The dedication
page is located under the 'About the Site' section, or
can be found here.
I
would like to thank each visitor for his or her support
in the creation of Blast from the Past. I
look forward to making more of the past available
in the future.
